6 Tips For Choosing The Correct Dog Bed

Dog beds For a contented hound, don’t spare the pound! Choosing a suitable dog bed for your prized pooch is a very important undertaking. Our dogs are much like us in lots of ways, except for their obsession with rolling in unmentionable sources of odours and sniffing lampposts. They need their sleep as much as we do, and they need to be comfortable. Without an appropriate dog bed our dogs can become uncomfortable, short-tempered, unhealthy and even suffer from arthritis, rheumatism and other ailments which can seriously impede their happiness and welfare.

From small dogs beds to large dogs beds, it’s obviously size which will be the primary determining factor. But this is where so many pet owners unintentionally go wrong. It may be wise to wait a short while and work out how your dog actually sleeps. For example, is your dog inclined to curl up in a ball, in a semi foetal position? Or does your dog stretch out, taking up twice as much room as when he’s standing up? In some cases your dog may almost elicit concerns regarding fleas, fidgeting all night and going from one position to another. How your dog sleeps will determine the kind of dog bed you choose.

Choosing the Right Dog Bed

Dog beds Choosing the right dog bed for your pet can be a daunting task, but does not need to be. Keeping in mind a few tips, you will be sure to find the right dog bed for your favourite four-legged friend.  When choosing the right dog bed, remember to consider the (full grown) size of your dog, the age and health of your dog, the durability of the dog bed, and the care needed.

When choosing a pet dog bed, the first thing to consider is the size of your dog/s. Choosing the right dog bed involves making a realistic decision about the size of the dog bed you need.  For example, a large dog needs a large dog bed. A very large dog will not be comfortable on a small or medium sized dog bed and will most likely refuse to use it. Make sure to consider the size of your dog when full grown, puppies grow quickly and will outgrow a smaller dog bed before you are ready.
