Dog Health – Keep Man’s Best Friend As Healthy As You Can

Everybody must have heard that wise old saying “a dog is mans best friend”. I’m sure we all have sufficient reasons to regard our dogs as a fundamental component of our daily lives. They give the impression of having an extraordinary ability to exhibit both their devotion and faithfulness to their owners, whilst we can not fail to recognize that dogs have an inimitable ability to bring joy to any observer who happens to see them playing, be it retrieving sticks or playing fetch with a ball.

For these reasons I think we should all look after our ” best friends” general dog health, be it dental care, adding nutrients to dog food and dog first aid. Read the rest of this entry »

House Breaking Tips for Dogs

House Breaking Tips for Dogs Dogs, especially puppies, should be taught where the right place for relieving themselves is when they come to live with you. Unfortunately, just like babies, they don’t come already housebroken. That will be your delightful job. Here are a few tips to help your potty training efforts go more smoothly.

Now, we have all heard terrible stories about the perils of housebreaking a puppy. Sure, you may get frustrated every once in a while but do your best not to let it get in the way of your primary goal – keeping puppy from pooing and peeing all over the house. When it comes to being consistent, this is where many dog owners have troubles.

What exactly does this mean? Well, when you take puppy outside to do his business, take the same route, use the same commands and praise him when he starts to go and when he finishes. Some owners like to stand indoors, especially when it is raining or very cold. The problem with that method is that a puppy might associate going to the bathroom with being left outside alone. This can set you up to find smelly "presents" all over the house. Your dog will either use the bathroom in his crate or elsewhere so he doesn’t have to go outdoors.

Detector Dogs: Are Dogs Reliable Predictors of Earthquakes?

It is early in the afternoon. All of a sudden, seemingly without reason, your normally well-behaved dog begins barking and becomes agitated and frantic. None of your attempts at soothing help and he actually becomes worse.

Then your normal, peaceful, quite afternoon becomes fraught with terror as an earthquake strikes.

Was your beloved companion trying to warn you?

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center would answer a resounding “Yes”! In the summer of 2002 their newest employee Josh Stachnik proved to be a valuable team member…because of his dog Fats. Within 2 weeks Fats reliably sensed the coming of 2 earthquakes. One was the Denali Earthquake which was the most violent quake in the world in 2002. Read the rest of this entry »

Dog Food for Life

Visit Dog Food For Life Here!

With all of the unnecessary and unhealthy ingredients that are being put in dog food today, it isn’t a surprise that many dog food products were removed from the shelves in 2007 due to the Menu Foods recall in February of that year.

Due to pet owners’ growing distrust in the dog food production companies, many have begun to make their own dog food from raw ingredients that meet all of their canine’s nutritional needs. Besides, how can one be sure that the dog food they use today won’t be on the recall list a few months from now? The common name for homemade natural dog food is the “raw food diet for dogs.”

Glucosamine For Dogs That Have Arthritis

Dogs Liquid Glucosamine for dogs is great for treating arthritis and other joint pain your dog may be suffering. My dog Bruce used to suffer from these things and he really had trouble chasing our other dog Buster like he used to do. As he was a Jack Russell Terrier he was used to be very active once, and it was a little sad to see him not being able to do the things he wanted to do. He wasn’t that old, only 7 years old so we were curious about what we could do for him. We wanted our old Bruce back as we loved him so much, we went to the Vet to see what action we could take to get him healthy again. With up to about 30% of dogs suffering from arthritis means that there are a few treatments available to ease their suffering.

Choosing The Right Breed Of Dog

Choosing the right breed of dog There comes a moment in time for most families to add a four-legged companion to the household. This decision is not one to be taken lightly. Choosing the correct breed of dog can be the difference between complete happiness and absolute terror in your home. I have outlined the steps I walk through prior to bringing a dog into my home and I advise these steps to my friends and family.

A good topic to discuss first is how much hair you are willing to put up with. You are going to have to deal with your dog’s hair in some fashion. He will either shed or require grooming. It’s a Time vs. Money question. You can always take the middle ground, though, and find a dog that sheds minimally a couple times of year.
